Melbourne CBD - priorities

Strategic Mobility Review

Conduct a comprehensive review of all modes of transport—cars, trucks, trams, trains, buses, bicycles, food delivery vehicles, skateboarders, and e-scooters—both before and after the opening of the Metro Tunnel in 2025. This will ensure a well-integrated mobility system that caters to the needs of all users, minimises congestion, and enhances safety for pedestrians and cyclists.

Swanston Walk Pedestrianisation

Reduce tram speeds to 5 km/h between Collins and Lonsdale Streets to transform Swanston Street into a pedestrian-friendly zone. Allow local businesses to trade on the streets and freeze their rates for two years to boost small business recovery.

Support for Rough Sleepers

Work in collaboration with the State Government and welfare agencies to secure accommodation for the estimated 300 rough sleepers in the city, prioritising their welfare, safety and dignity.

Tram Route Adjustments to improve safety

Remove the tram terminus at Elizabeth and Flinders Street to streamline tram movement, and extend services along Flinders Street to improve connectivity east and west. This change will reduce delays, enhance public transport flow and prevent nighttime loitering in this unsafe area.
